Lawn always wet, need advice

Hey everyone! I live in Quebec city, and I have a problem with a part of my newly done yard.

Two years ago, I had my french drain redone to solve a water infiltration problem. I waited a year to let it settle all down before hiring a professional contractor to redo my lawn in late august 2015.

Now, I have a problem with about half of my backyard. The grass (planted in rolls) is dead in spots and most importantly, the soil always stays wet, it takes about 7 days to dry it on surface (which pretty much never happen up here). After it rains, the soil is soaked up to the point that it makes squishes noise when I walk on it and there is water coming out of the surface around my shoe.

The grades are fine. The soil is clay, I can grab some and model it with my fingers when it’s wet.

The weird part is that it’s only affecting a part of my back yard, the behavior change drastically when entering the affected section.

The grass is white on top in some part if it makes any difference.

I’m in talk with my entrepreneur but he’s clueless about it so I’m asking here for a solution. Do we need to do it all again? Is it possible to top dress with sand maybe? Or something else? I made a core aeration but it did not change anything from what I can see.

I put a bunch of picture, some before, some while they were working and a lot after. You can clearly see the grass dead in spots. There is also 2 pictures showing core samples, one from the affected area and one from a good area. The color difference is notable.

Any help appreciated, thanks for reading!

Imgur is failing all my uploads so here’s a gdrive link for the photos. http://ift.tt/2c1wjeK
