How much would this cost?
On either side of the walkway in the photo, there used to be two large spruce trees. I cut the trees down and had the stumps ground out, but as you can see I’m left with quite a mess. My plan is to dig out some of the excess soil and wood chips (along with any roots that may still be present) and get rid of it, then deposit a layer of fresh topsoil and either seed or sod. My attempt at manually digging out the soil and chips is evident on the left side of the photo. This, however, has proven to be much more labour intensive than I had anticipated. Each side is approximately 15 feet by 15 feet.
Along with the old soil removal and new topsoil grading, I would like some of the sidewalk blocks close to the house re-leveled slightly. Due to the large roots from the spruce trees, some of them have shifted and are now angled faintly towards the house.
